Having recently had some free time during the holidays, I decided to try out Mega Man 9 for my Wii. This game is a challenging 8-bit platformer developed by IntiCreates and released on September 22, 2008. Mega Man 9 features new weapons for each boss, including the new Chill Spike weapon which can freeze enemies in place. It also contains a shop feature where players can purchase upgrades using bolts found throughout levels. There are four difficulty levels to choose from with Normal being the default level setting. I liked how easy it was to find items strewn about various stages that I could then use to purchase or upgrade my weapons at Megaman's shop. Because I could make better use of my weapons through this feature, it made the game more fun to play. It allows for upgrading your weapons to make them even stronger, which is pretty cool. As with many games, you would often find upgrades that are extremely useful in the later stages of the game. The classic gameplay style is intact in Mega Man 9. The control was similar to other classic Mega Man games before it. I found myself using the Wii remote's d-pad most of the time, but you could also opt to use either the control stick or left control pad instead if you prefer a more classic feel. Also, players can remap the controls to their liking if they prefer a different movement scheme. During my play time with the game, I could feel that it offered a decent challenge. However, I found that it was not as difficult as some other similar Mega Man titles such as Mega Man X5 and Mega Man Zero 2. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game and got a nostalgic feeling from playing this classic NES platformer on the Wii. It felt great to see how this sequel brought new life to one of my favorite classic games from way back when. It brought back memories I had from playing through the original Mega Man games years ago on my NES console decades ago. I loved that I could play this game with the Wii remote's microphone to win some silver trophies. I thought it was well worth playing. Graphic wise, this game reminds me of the original Mega Man games from the NES. Though there were some new effects such as parallax scrolling and 3d graphics, this game looks as good as you would expect a NES title to look like. The music is classic Mega Man 8 music, but it has been remastered into stereo sound for this latest release of the classic NES title.Mega Man: Anniversary Collection: Super Strength/Buster/Speed/Charge Arm-Arm... :Mega Man: Anniversary Collection: Super Strength/Buster/Speed/Charge Arm-Arm...:Mega Man 9 (PS2) : Mega Man 9 (PSN) : Reviews - Mega Man 9 (Nintendo DS) : Reviews - Mega Man 9 (Wii): Reviews - Mega Man 9 (Xbox Live Arcade): Reviews - Mega Man 10: Reviews -YouTube Videos: Mega Man Now! - Part 20 – March 22, 2013 – News – Capcom Unity.
